A little bit about ourselves and our journey in life.
We began our journey here at Point Leo over 20 years ago when we had a vision that we wished to live here, so Rod being a builder and surfer we decided to design and build our house for the three acres that we had purchased. We moved from Mt. Eliza with our three children, two dogs and couple of chooks to begin building and creating on empty land and so began our 20 + years of designing, creating and building Point Leo Retreat.
We had a sea change and that has opened up a lifestyle change for the better for our children and our grandchildren who all live close by and we all spend time together having lots of fun.
We both had and still have a very deep connection to health, well being and the earth, so it was only natural that we lived by the beach where Rod could and still does enjoy surfing, creating garden sculpture and is continually building gardens or transforming our house. It is where I have found my peace whilst walking the beach, practicing yoga, being in the garden, veggie patch and loving the earth by caring for all the garden rooms we have created. We both love to bush walk and there are many places to go around the hinterland and we participate when we can. We both enjoy capturing nature through photos and all the photos on our website have been taken by Susie.
Our interest in health and well being began over 24 years ago when I become interested in Aromatherapy and that took me on a journey deep into self awareness and a new understanding of life itself and our connection in that dance. So I went from being a potter (molding clay to molding bodies) to going on and studying Clinical Aromatherapy and massage, Yoga teaching, Reiki Master, Flower essence practitioner, Hawaiian lomilomi massage therapy and Native American spiritual teachings and began applying these to my life and to share these with others. I now draw on these to put together unique treatments and packages for individuals searching for a deeper understanding of themselves and looking for balance in their lives. For people interested in learning more about how they can apply these understandings in their life I offer private mentoring sessions. I have now gone back to my first love of pottery and are now pursuing my creative essence once more with clay.
Rod's interest also began to deepen as he went onto study Yoga philosophy and teaching, Hawaiian lomilomi massage, Mediation (he now works for the Department of Justice) assisting others to bring understanding and fairness into the building industry. He is a Master builder (over 40 years experience) and loves creating new ideas for people. You can always find Rod either in the garden or the shed creating some garden art from different materials that are around. With out Rod, Point Leo Retreat would not be here.
Whilst we enjoy a full life we also make sure we take time out for ourselves to re-balance our energies and make sure we maintain our health and well being so we are able to support others on their journey to health.
Rod and I are only too happy to have a chat about what ever takes your fancy, from where to go for a walk, garden tips and ideas, creative expression to deeper meaning of life.
